Feature Film DCP Creation

The Audio Planet provides professional DCP creation for feature films preparing for theatrical screenings, festivals, private premieres, and cinema delivery.

A DCP, or Digital Cinema Package, is the standard theatrical format used by movie theaters to ingest and play a film through cinema projection systems. We create and test your DCP from your final approved picture master and final audio mix to help ensure your film is ready for the big screen.

Delivery Drive Options

To help maximize theater compatibility, we offer professional DCP drive preparation in common cinema delivery formats.

Primary DCP Drive — EXT3 / 128-byte inode size

$200

EXT3 with 128-byte inode size is the general cinema standard and the most broadly compatible option for theatrical servers.

Backup DCP Drive — NTFS

$200

NTFS is available as a secondary backup option for theaters that prefer or require this format.

We recommend including both USB-C and USB-A cables with delivery drives, since some theater systems and projection booths may not support USB-C connections.

Protective Case Option

Pelican 1170 Protective Case

$75 plus Shipping

For physical delivery, we offer an optional Pelican 1170 protective hard case to hold the DCP drives and accessories during transport or shipping.

For the safest theatrical delivery, we recommend:

  • One EXT3 primary DCP drive

  • One NTFS backup DCP drive

  • One Pelican 1170 protective case

Theatrical Test Screening

$1,500

For filmmakers who want additional confidence before a premiere, festival screening, distributor delivery, or theatrical event, we offer an optional theatrical test screening.

This includes coordination of a full feature playback in a professional cinema auditorium, DCP delivery/setup, full-film theatrical review, and a written notes summary after the screening.

Clients are welcome to join us for the test screening at the Broken Arrow Warren Theatre if they are able to attend in person.

A theatrical test screening can help identify issues that may not be obvious in a studio or home environment, including:

  • Dialogue intelligibility in a cinema environment

  • Overall mix translation

  • Music and effects balance

  • DCP playback issues

  • Sync problems

  • Picture/color translation concerns

  • Subtitle or caption playback issues, if applicable

  • Any obvious technical issues before public exhibition

Theatrical test screenings are billed separately from DCP creation and are subject to theater availability.

Any revisions, re-exports, additional DCP versions, additional screenings, or third-party QC requirements are billed separately.

Important Notes

DCP creation begins after the final approved picture master and final audio mix have been delivered.

Any revisions after DCP creation, alternate versions, subtitle/caption work, encrypted DCP/KDM setup, third-party QC, or theater-specific re-delivery requirements are billed separately.

For best results, we recommend confirming the theater or festival’s delivery specifications before final delivery.

All pricing is based on a feature film runtime of up to 90 minutes. Longer films may require additional budget based on runtime, theater rental, delivery requirements, review time, and testing needs.
